Salima is the specialist orthodontist and the practice principal at Braces & Faces Dental Centre.

Salima is a GDC registered Specialist and Consultant Orthodontist. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 2001 and then went on to carry out her specialist training in Orthodontics at the University of Manchester, gaining a Master of Philosophy in Orthodontics and attained the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Following entry to the Orthodontic Specialist list she undertook additional higher training in orthodontics to gain the intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons to gain Consultant status. She works as a part-time Consultant Orthodontist in the West Midlands. Salima is actively involved in teaching and is part of the West Midlands Deanery teaching programme for Orthodontic Specialists, which she thoroughly enjoys. She is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and also holds the position of vice chair of the Birmingham, Black Country and Solihull Managed Clinical Network.

At Braces & Faces Dental Centre Salima works as a specialist Orthodontist seeing both NHS and private patients for Orthodontic treatment. She carries out NHS Orthodontic treatment for children under the
age of 18 who are eligible and meet the IOTN criteria. She offers private orthodontic treatment for both children and adults, which includes metal braces, ceramic braces, Invisalign (teen and adult) and lingual braces. She has extensive experience in all areas of orthodontics with a particular interest in the field of adult orthodontics, complex interdisciplinary treatment and the use of aesthetic braces. In the practice she likes to treat all aspects of children and adult orthodontics of any difficulty to create the perfect smile. She likes to treat her patients in friendly and caring manner to ensure patients feel comfortable.

In her spare time Salima enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking and eating out lots!

Jacquie qualified as a dental surgeon in 1986. She worked in general practice for several years before obtaining a post as a clinical assistant in orthodontics at Walsall Manor Hospital where she found a love for orthodontics. She undertook further training and has worked exclusively in orthodontics since 2000. She regularly updates her training by attending postgraduate courses to maintain her skills. Outside of orthodontics, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking the dog, and growing her own vegetables.

Specialty Dentist in Orthodontics

Zarish Graduated in dentistry from the University of Manchester in 2013 with an Honours degree. Following this, she completed her foundation training in Dentistry before relocating to Birmingham to undertake post-graduate training in various hospitals across the West Midlands.

During this time, she acquired skills in oral and maxillofacial surgery, paediatric dentistry, adult restorative dentistry, and oral surgery including dental sedation. Concurrently, she obtained a Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, a Post Graduate Certificate in Dental Education (PGCERT) and won over 8 post graduate awards, recognising her hard work and contribution in the various dental specialities. In 2018, Zarish commenced specialist training in orthodontics at Birmingham Dental Hospital.

In 2021, she obtained Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She is currently completing the last six months of her higher training to become registered as a Specialist Orthodontist, recognising that she has followed the highest standard of training possible in orthodontics in the UK. She is also working towards gaining a Masters degree in Research Dentistry (MSc), conducting research using cutting-edge technology exploring 3D stereophotogrammetry imaging in orthognathic surgery. Zarish has a keen interest in contemporary orthodontics for both adults and children, providing a variety of treatment options using ceramic braces, clear aligner and lingual appliances. Outside of Orthodontics, Zarish enjoys quality time with her husband and young daughter. She likes to keep fit and healthy and enjoys spinning, badminton and bouldering.

Chantal qualified as an Orthodontic Therapist at the University of Lancaster in 2021. Before qualifying as an Orthodontic Therapist Chantal was a Dental Nurse qualifying in 2003 where she gained a wealth of knowledge in Dentistry and Orthodontics.

Chantal also has additional qualifications in Dental Radiography, Dental Impressions, Management and Oral health Education.

She had always been passionate about orthodontics and loves nothing more transforming patients smiles under the supervision of the Specialist Orthodontist.

In her spare time Chantal enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family and friends.

Emma began her career in dentistry in 2007 where she worked as a dental receptionist for many years. Emma joined our team in August 2020, as Patient Care Coordinator.

Emma has extensive knowledge in patient care and satisfaction and takes great pride in ensuring that all our patients, have all the information they need regarding their treatment throughout their journey at the practice. Emma enjoys spending her weekends with her young daughter and is Disney’s biggest fan.

Lavina has been working at the practice for 8 years. She enjoys nothing more than interacting with patients. Lavina finds her job highly rewarding, there isn’t a day she doesn't come to work with a smile on her face. Over the years she has built a great rapport with the patients and looks forward to greeting them when they attend their appointments.

Outside work she takes pleasure in long walks and spending time with her family.

Sharon qualified as a dental nurse in 2010 and has since enjoyed many years in the dental sector. During her career Sharon has gained a post qualification in Dental Radiography and additional qualification in dental impressions. Outside of work Sharon loves spending times with friends and family and loves to squeeze in as many holidays as she can.

Shelbey qualified as a dental nurse in 2014 and has become highly skilled within her role. She enjoys working with the Orthodontist, Dentist and Hygienist and has an excellent rapport with all the patients. She is also decontamination lead and Treatment Coordinator at Braces and Faces Dental Centre which she takes great pride in. She loves working as a close team within the practice.

Outside of work Shelbey is not only an avid Wolves supporter but she also plays football for her local team and enjoys socialising with friends and family.

Kirsty qualified as a Dental Nurse in 2016 and has extensive knowledge in all aspects of the field. Since joining the practice in June 2020 Kirsty has undergone additional training in Orthodontics and is has found a passion for this particular aspect of dentistry.

Kirsty is also our treatment coordinator, as well as assisting colleagues in training and development.

Outside of work Kirsty enjoys being outdoors as much as possible with her young family and staying active.

Our Dental Nurse Kelly started her Dental Nursing training in 2021 and qualified in the summer of 2022. She has had experience working with Dentists, Orthodontists & Hygienists. Kelly particularly loves working within the Orthodontic side of Dentistry and is always looking out for ways to further her knowledge. Kelly is trained on taking digital scans and clinical photographs of our lovely patients.

Kelly is a delight to have as part of our team to help our patients feel comfortable and put a smile on everyone’s face.

Outside of work Kelly enjoys going away on city breaks exploring new places, going for long walks & spending time with family & friends.

Niamh is our trainee dental nurse she started at Braces & Faces in February 2023, and has been training as dental nurse since 2022. Niamh really enjoys helping putting patients at ease, and has been an excellent asset to the practice since joining.

Outside of work Niamh enjoys going out with her friends and going on holiday.
